Angus Cook joins the CAUL National Office
Angus will be familiar to many CAUL members having spent the past three and half years working as a Senior Licensing Manager for Springer Nature. During this time, Angus supervised colleagues in providing advice, pricing, licences, usage and research data across Springer Nature’s portfolio of journals, eBooks and databases. Angus initiated and supported projects in areas such as metadata management, customer updates via webinars, and usage benchmarking.
Prior to working at Springer Nature, Angus worked for five years managing sales and marketing at OCLC. Angus was instrumental in introducing WorldShare, a cloud based library management system to a wide range of libraries across Australia and New Zealand. He also provided advice to libraries on other services including EZproxy, WorldCat services and digital archiving products.
Angus has further publishing experience having worked with Thomson Reuters for seven years, in supplying legal content to large law firms and court libraries.
Angus completed a Masters in Information Management at RMIT in 2015, and is a passionate believer in the role of libraries and the benefits they provide to the communities they serve. Angus is looking forward to applying his extensive commercial experience to support the membership as well as seeking new (and transformative!) ways of optimising value in content purchases.
Based in Melbourne, Angus and his wife Anne are kept busy with two children, Lewis (14) and Charlie (12).
