The Repositories sub-group of the Australian Scholarly Communications Community of Practice (AuSCCoP) is an initiative of Open Access Australasia, CAUL and Creative Commons Australia. Institutional, data and subject repositories play a vital role in the academic and research ecosystem. Where paid open access publishing is not an option, repository-based open access (also known as ‘green open access’) provides the researcher an alternative route to open access at no cost to themselves or their research budget. They also showcase, curate and preserve research outputs, supporting the institution’s mission of knowledge dissemination and serving as a critical resource for researchers, students, and the broader community. The Repositories sub-group provides members with an active, welcoming community of peers willing to share knowledge about day-to-day practice and discuss new developments, strategies and challenges.
