Since launching in 2022, the CAUL OER Collective grants program has evolved in response to sector needs, program learnings, and strategic priorities. While our core goals — building capability, supporting collaboration, and promoting Indigenous knowledge and local relevance — have remained consistent, the structure of our funding categories has shifted over time to better deliver impact.
In our early rounds, broad and flexible categories encouraged wide participation and helped us understand where support was most needed. As the program matured, we introduced more targeted categories — such as Kickstarter grants for new participants and funding streams for high-enrollment or specialist subjects — to ensure equitable access and sustainable outcomes. Each year’s categories have been informed by analysis of past projects, community feedback, and emerging sector priorities.
This page provides access to archived versions of our funding guidelines from each round. These guidelines reflect the program’s evolution and our ongoing commitment to supporting open textbook publishing across diverse institutional contexts.
